What @paulkrugman says about green growth and degrowth is not only wrong - it is dangerous. Here is why.

#inclusive #development can only be achieved if the growth-addiction of our economies is addressed, argues @UvA_AISSR's @crelisr on our blog

"Applying green and inclusive lubricants to its mechanisms is not the solution. We must abandon growth itself."

I’m all for more circularity, but images like these suggest there won’t be any waste or losses. This goes against the laws of thermodynamics. Instead, let’s imagine degrowing to a steady-state ‘circular’ economy with throughput that doesn’t overwhelm the earth system.

The global North is responsible for 92% of total excess carbon dioxide emissions. Climate breakdown is colonial in character and ultimately requires an anti-colonial struggle in response.
